I have over 65 years of experience playing live music. I can provide live music—either as a soloist or with a small group—for any special occasions, such as weddings or banquets, private parties and catered events, parades, funerals, and religious services. Music is played at a volume where guests can listen, dance, or have a conversation without shouting.
I perform primarily music of the swing era, including the great American songbook composers, such as George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, and others who composed classic music for Broadway and the movies of the 1920s, ‘30s, and ‘40s. I most often play with a trio called “We Three,” playing either saxophone and/or clarinet, accompanied by a keyboard player, and a third musician playing acoustic (upright) bass.
I also play Dixieland (also called New Orleans jazz). Well-known Dixieland standards include “Basin Street Blues” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.” For this type of music I’m usually part of a trio with clarinet accompanied by a banjo and tuba player, but the Dixieland group can be increased to a six piece band—with trumpet, trombone, and drums—for a bigger sound.
I often play as a solo musician as well, playing events as diverse as social events, church services, parades—and even as a strolling musician for that perfect marriage proposal! I can help make your event into something special.
